OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Why does the position exist? What does it do? How does it contribute to the strategy of Tippin's?

 

The Production Scheduler creates and maintains the daily production schedule based on demand, forecasting, par levels, internal capacity constraints and factors affecting product availability and expected customer shipments. The Production Scheduler will collaborate daily with multiple Tippin's Teams including:

        Bakery Production

        Sales

        Warehouse/Logistics

        Procurement

        Finance

        QA

The Production Scheduler has an excellent understanding of the various manufacturing functional areas (e.g. Oven Room, Silk Room, Creaming Room, Pie Lines, etc.) throughout the bakery, and also understands the planning needs of raw materials, the time and functional areas needed to produce various products, primary and secondary packaging needs, and movement of product both around the production floor and in and out of the storage areas.

 

The successful candidate will support the Director of Operations with a focus on the production of the highest quality and food safe products. The Production Scheduler also has an excellent understanding of food safety practices and will be observant of and will work with QA and all team members to ensure constant vigilance to food safety and quality best practices.

Fundamental Areas                                                                                                                                        

Production Scheduler

The Production Scheduler will:

        Monitor material inventories, tracks progress of production, and review factors which affect schedules.

        Review and distribute work order assignments in a timely manner.

        Confer with other departments to determine progress of work and completion dates.

        Monitor and adjust production schedule to avoid delays and downtime. Maintain and improve execution of production assignments.

        Plan, prioritize and prepare the schedule of production activity and communicate to the Production Team leads and other affected departments.

        Evaluate manufacturing challenges and constraints; develop solutions to overcome new and recurring issues.

        Identify and inform management of scheduling capacity constraints and recommend strategies to alleviate.

        Challenge current strategies to ensure the best possible manufacturing scenario is in place to meet company objectives.

In addition the Production Scheduler will:

        Collaborate with the various functional teams to drive continuous improvement in increasing throughput, reducing cycle time and improving production quality and yields

        Balance inventory demands to support targets consistent with production capabilities and sales demands

        Monitor and maintain schedule and integration of new business

        Lead daily Production Team meeting

        Be the primary liaison with other departments related to scheduling:

o   Procurement

o   Production

o   Warehousing/Logistics

o   Customer service

o   Sales

o   QA

        Execute processes related to MEASURE software and report functions, providing timely data and information used to drive the business and schedule decision-making processes.

        Coordinate documents pertaining to the production schedule meeting and resolves conflicts.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Works under general supervision, and with a degree of creativity and latitude.

Work with integrity, accuracy, and moral conduct as related to all business opportunities and activities

Participate in continuous improvements to product safety and quality with various department members

Follow all plant safety, food safety, and GMP requirements

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by Director of Operations or Plant Manager.

PROFILE OF THE JOB

Characteristics that position holder must demonstrate to perform the job & reach the Position Objective.

 

Academic level required by the position holder

High school diploma or greater

Preferred experience in commercial food production

Languages: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Minimum Applicable Experience (Years of Experience, etc.):

  1. One-plus year's experience executing or supporting scheduling in a manufacturing environment
  2. Basic knowledge of ERP systems and how to access and utilize
  3. Working knowledge and proficiency in forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operation impacts
  4. Advanced level of proficiency in an electronic spreadsheet program (Excel or comparable)
  5. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  6. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced, unpredictable and demanding Strong interpersonal skills essential to effectively interact with a variety of departments
  7. Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy
  8. Track record of developing and implementing positive change

Works in a food manufacturing environment. Exposed to typical bakery elements; flour dust, moderate noise, some temperature extremes (oven room, freezers, coolers etc.).
