Produce Specialist - Support Office

Position Summary:

The Produce Specialist at Balls Food Stores (BFS) is responsible for ensuring that only the highest quality, freshest produce and best possible shopping experience is received by our guests. This role involves the teaching, training and coaching of our produce managers and store teammates in all aspects of retail merchandising and selling to maximize sales and profits. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fresh produce, an eye for detail and a commitment to developing leaders, with a strong focus on maintaining the BFS standards for selling premium quality products and providing superior guest hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

· Inventory Management: Monitor produce inventory levels and quality, ensuring all products are fresh, properly stocked, and rotated to minimize shrink.

· Merchandising: Create visually appealing produce displays that attract guests and drive sales. Work with Produce Leadership Team in Implementing promotional strategies and seasonal themes to enhance the shopping experience.

· Quality Assurance: Inspect incoming produce deliveries from all suppliers for quality and freshness, as well as all store coolers to insure proper storage standards are met at all times.

· Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Produce Managers, Produce Support Team and other teammates to achieve department sales, gross profit and labor goals. Train and coach new produce teammates on best practices and safety standards.

· Sales and Profitability: Monitor sales and help develop strategies to maximize department profitability.

Qualifications:

· Understands and demonstrates the Company Culture with teammates, guests, and vendors at all times.

· Prior experience in produce management or similar role is required.

· Strong knowledge of fruits, vegetables, and other produce items, including handling, storage, and preparation techniques.

· Excellent hospitality skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and teammates.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.

· Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift produce items weighing up to 50 pounds.

· Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Education:

· High School Diploma and/or GED required

· Some college or college degree preferred
